Picture this: your family gathered on a terrace in Lisbon as the setting sun paints the Tagus River gold, three generations sharing stories over custard tarts still warm from the oven. This is what we’ve crafted for you—16 nights tracing the heart of the Mediterranean, from Portugal’s Atlantic coast to Greece’s ancient hills.

This Mediterranean family tour connects four distinct cultures across Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Greece. With four nights in each city, you’ll have time to walk slowly, eat well, and let each place settle into memory. We’ve designed this journey for families traveling together—grandparents, parents, children—with private guides who adapt to your pace, activities that engage every age, and enough quiet time to simply be together.

From Lisbon’s tiled neighborhoods to Barcelona’s Gaudí masterpieces, Rome’s ancient forums to Athens’ sacred Acropolis, these cities have shaped how we think, build, and live. Your family will walk where emperors walked, taste recipes passed down through centuries, and create your own stories in places where history still feels close enough to touch.

We’ve arranged everything: your drivers wait at each arrival, your guides know these streets like their own homes, and every entrance is secured. This is your Mediterranean trip, fully customizable to match how your family travels best.

Itinerary

DAY 1ARRIVAL IN LISBON

Your Mediterranean family vacation begins in Portugal. When you land in Lisbon, collect your luggage and step into the arrival hall. Your driver will be waiting to greet you by name, ready to take you to your hotel. Settle in, open the windows to the Lisbon air, and begin to slow down.

DAY 2THE ESSENCE OF OLD LISBON

Experience the historic heart and essence of Lisbon on this half-day private tour, exploring the captivating neighborhoods of Alfama, Baixa, and Chiado.

Your expert local guide and your chauffeur will pick you up at your hotel. We will reveal the true essence of Alfama, the oldest district in Lisbon. As you stroll through its narrow, winding streets, you’ll feel transported back in time. Alfama’s labyrinthine alleys, steep staircases, and hidden courtyards reflect its rich Moorish heritage. One of the highlights is São Jorge Castle, perched atop the hill. This medieval fortress offers panoramic views of the city and the Tagus River. Originally built by the Moors, it was later expanded by the Portuguese and played a crucial role in the city’s defense.

Venture into Baixa, Lisbon’s bustling downtown district, meticulously rebuilt after the devastating 1755 earthquake. Baixa’s grid-like layout and grandiose squares are a marvel of 18th-century urban planning. One of the main attractions here is Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square), one of Europe’s largest squares. This impressive waterfront space was once the site of the royal palace. It’s surrounded by elegant arcaded buildings and is dominated by the grand Rua Augusta Arch, a symbol of Lisbon’s rebirth. Another key site is Rossio Square, a lively hub in the heart of Baixa known for its wave-patterned cobblestone pavements and the imposing D. Pedro IV statue.

Finally, explore Chiado, an elegant neighborhood renowned for its lively cultural scene, historic cafés, and stylish boutiques. Chiado serves as the city’s intellectual and artistic heart. One must-visit spot is Café A Brasileira, one of Lisbon’s most iconic cafés, which has been a favorite haunt of artists and writers since its opening in 1905. Don’t miss the bronze statue of famed Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, who frequented this establishment.

Throughout this tour, you’ll gain insights into Lisbon’s history, culture, and resilience, guided by an expert who will bring each neighborhood’s unique story to life. Whether it’s the Moorish charm of Alfama, the neoclassical elegance of Baixa, or the artistic energy of Chiado, this half-day exploration will leave you with a deep appreciation for Lisbon’s enduring spirit and captivating beauty.

DAY 3ENCHANTING SINTRA AND COASTAL SPLENDOR: A PRIVATE DAY TOUR FROM LISBON

Experience the best of Sintra and the Estoril Coast on this memorable day trip from Lisbon. Your guide and chauffeur will pick you up from your hotel and take you on a journey through stunning royal palaces nestled in lush gardens, picturesque towns, and the rugged beauty of the Atlantic coastline.

Sintra, a town near Lisbon and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is celebrated for its enchanting palaces, verdant gardens, and historic estates. This beautiful area served as a privileged retreat to Portuguese monarchs throughout history, so that you can find a series of enchanting estates and constructions from different ages and styles. Your tour is entirely customizable, so that you will be able to explore with the savvy recommendations of your expert local guide the landmarks that most appeal to your curiosity.

The Pena Palace is one of Portugal’s most iconic landmarks, and therefore also one of the most visited. Perched atop a hill, this magnificent 19th-century Romanticist castle, with its vivid colors and eclectic architectural styles, offers stunning panoramic views and a fairy-tale-like ambiance. The view of the palace is particularly impressive from the outside and from the surrounding gardens brimming with exotic plants and hidden pathways.

Alternatively, consider the less crowded Quinta da Regaleira, famous for its mystical gardens, hidden tunnels, and the enigmatic Initiation Well. The National Palace of Sintra, located in the heart of the town, is a blend of architectural styles, as it served as a royal residence for centuries, offering richly decorated rooms and beautiful tile work that provide a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of the Portuguese monarchy.

Next, you can stroll through the narrow streets of Sintra’s old town, traditional houses, handicraft workshops, and pastry shops. Be sure to try the local pastries, such as queijadas or travesseiros, which are sure to delight your taste buds.

From Sintra’s lush and enchanting haven, venture to the rugged Atlantic shores, where the brave winds and waves carve a dramatically different landscape. Enjoy the scenic drive along the ocean, with a break for lunch at your leisure. Your guide will recommend the best dining options based on your preferences.

Along the way, you’ll reach Cabo da Roca, Europe’s westernmost point, and marvel at the views of the rocky cliffs and the vast Atlantic Ocean. Continue to Cascais, a picturesque fishing village that has been a trendy vacation spot since the 19th century. Return to Lisbon via the stunning Estoril Coast, featuring pristine sandy beaches and rugged cliffs. This scenic route will be a perfect conclusion to your memorable day trip.

DAY 4DAY AT LEISURE IN LISBON

Today is yours to spend as you wish. Your family can explore Lisbon at your own rhythm.

Consider riding Tram 28, the iconic yellow streetcar that climbs through historic neighborhoods, rattling up steep hills and around tight corners. Or walk to Belém to see the tower that guards the Tagus River mouth and the Jerónimos Monastery, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. The monastery’s Manueline architecture—stone carved like rope and sea creatures—reflects Portugal’s age of exploration.

At Pastéis de Belém, a bakery operating since 1837, you can taste pastel de nata, Portugal’s famous custard tart, made from a secret recipe. The line might be long, but it moves quickly, and the first bite—warm custard, flaky pastry, a sprinkle of cinnamon—makes the wait worthwhile.

Alfama invites wandering. Get lost in its lanes, listen for Fado music drifting from doorways, and discover small squares where locals gather in the late afternoon light.

Lisbon rewards slow exploration. Find a café, order a bica (strong espresso), and watch the city move around you.

DAY 5LISBON TO BARCELONA

At the arranged time, your driver takes you to the airport for your flight to Barcelona. When you land in Spain’s Catalonian capital, another driver will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Check in, rest, and prepare for a different kind of Mediterranean beauty—one shaped by Gaudí’s imagination and Gothic stone.

DAY 6THE ART OF MODERNISME: SAGRADA FAMILIA AND GAUDÍ'S WONDERS

Join a private tour led by a knowledgeable local guide to explore the wonders of Modernist Barcelona. This exclusive experience will take you through the city’s architectural gems, including visits to the iconic Sagrada Familia, the captivating La Pedrera, and an exploration of the exquisite facades along Passeig de Gràcia.

**Sagrada Familia:** Our journey begins at the awe-inspiring Sagrada Familia, a testament to the genius of Antoni Gaudí. Standing before its intricate facades, your expert guide will reveal the secrets of Gaudí’s vision and the ongoing construction that spans generations.

**La Pedrera:** We’ll then continue to La Pedrera, also known as Casa Milà, another showcase of Gaudí’s brilliance. You’ll have the opportunity to admire the undulating curves and imaginative design of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guide will provide historical context and insights into this masterpiece, deepening your appreciation of its unique beauty.

**Passeig de Gràcia:** As we stroll along the elegant Passeig de Gràcia, you’ll encounter a captivating array of Modernist facades that grace this iconic boulevard. You’ll be introduced to architectural wonders such as Casa Batlló, a fairytale-like creation by Gaudí, and the Amatller House designed by Puig Cadafalch, which exudes its own distinctive charm. The Lleó Morera House by Domènech i Montaner will also captivate you with its unique architectural style.

Throughout the tour, your expert local guide will provide a rich narrative, offering historical context, architectural insights, and fascinating anecdotes about the artists and visionaries who shaped Barcelona’s Modernist era.

DAY 7BARCELONA COASTAL ESCAPE: SAILING AND WINERY EXPERIENCE

Experience the perfect fusion of luxury and culture with our exclusive private daytrip along the beautiful Barcelona coast. Your day begins with a sail along the pristine coastline aboard a private yacht, your own personal captain at the helm. As you glide through the crystal-clear waters, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of Barcelona’s iconic skyline and beyond, all from the comfort of your private vessel.

After your invigorating maritime adventure, we’ll whisk you away to a charming winery located on the coast near Barcelona. Perched above the sea, this gem offers not only exquisite wines but also an unparalleled view of the Mediterranean. Your visit to the winery includes a guided tour of their cellar, where you’ll discover the secrets behind their exceptional winemaking process.

Then, it’s time for the main event—a delightful wine tasting experience. You’ll savor four distinct varieties of premium organic wines, each carefully selected to showcase the rich flavors of the region. These exquisite wines will be expertly paired with a selection of local tapas, enhancing the tasting experience and delighting your palate.

This private daytrip is designed for those who seek the ideal blend of adventure, relaxation, and gastronomic pleasure. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast, a sea lover, or simply looking for a memorable day, this journey promises to create lasting memories against the backdrop of Barcelona’s stunning coastal scenery.

DAY 8DAY AT LEISURE IN BARCELONA

Barcelona is yours today. Your family can choose your own path through the city.

Walk through the Gothic Quarter, where Roman walls still stand and medieval streets wind through shadowed passages. Small plazas open unexpectedly, often with a church, a fountain, and a café where you can sit and rest.

Visit La Boqueria Market just off Las Ramblas. The market overflows with color—piles of fruit, fresh fish on ice, hanging jamón, stalls selling fresh juice and seafood. It’s crowded and loud and full of life.

If your family wants the beach, head to Barceloneta, where the Mediterranean laps against the sand and locals play volleyball, swim, and gather at beachfront restaurants for paella and cold beer.

Park Güell, another Gaudí creation, sits on a hillside north of the city center. Its mosaic-covered benches, gingerbread-like buildings, and serpentine pathways make it feel like a storybook come to life. From the main terrace, you can see across Barcelona to the sea.

Or simply find a café, order tapas—patatas bravas, pan con tomate, grilled octopus—and watch Barcelona move at its own Mediterranean pace.

DAY 9BARCELONA TO ROME

Your driver will pick you up at the agreed time for your flight to Rome. When you land in Italy’s capital, another driver meets you and takes you to your hotel. The language changes, the food changes, the architecture shifts from Catalan curves to Roman arches. You’ve entered the heart of ancient Europe.

DAY 10FULL DAY ANCIENT ROME & VATICAN MUSEUMS PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR

Take a tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, jumping the lines! No stress to reach the area: upon arrival, your guide will lead you into the museums, where you’ll visit one of the most important art collections in the world. Admire the Gallery of Tapestries and the Geographical Maps before arriving at the famous Sistine Chapel!

Tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Access the Palatine Hill with no line and discover the hill where Rome was founded at the beginning. Then reach the Colosseum and be amazed by this monument that is the symbol of Rome in the world. The Amphitheater created to entertain ancient Roman citizens with bloody shows of gladiators, animals and cruel games, is now one of the most fascinating landmarks of the City. Then, walk on the original path of ancient Rome along the Via Sacra and see the Temples of Vesta, Antonino and Faustina, the ancient Basilica Julia and Aemilia and dream about the glorious past of the Roman Empire. Unforgettable!

DAY 11PIZZA MAKING CLASS

Today we have organized for you a very fun activity.

If your wish has always been to know how to prepare pizza, this course is perfect for you! The chef will guide you through the Italian tradition of preparing pizza dough from scratch, explaining techniques and tips on making the best dough, and how to properly dress the pizza. You will be given your own ingredients to top the pizza with whatever you like and experiment with various recipes.

At the end you will finally eat what you have prepared and discover if your skill level is now that of a proper pizzaiolo. This class is a very hands-on, family friendly and fun experience for all ages!

DAY 12DAY AT LEISURE IN ROME

Rome rewards wandering. Today, choose your own path through the Eternal City.

Toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain (over your shoulder, so you’ll return to Rome). Walk through Trastevere, a neighborhood of narrow streets, ivy-covered walls, and family-run trattorias serving carbonara and cacio e pepe made the traditional Roman way.

Visit the Pantheon, ancient Rome’s best-preserved building. Its dome, built nearly 2,000 years ago, remains the world’s largest unreinforced concrete dome. Step inside and look up through the oculus—the circular opening at the dome’s center—where rain falls through and light moves across the walls as the day progresses.

Find a gelato shop (not the tourist traps with mountains of bright-colored gelato, but the smaller places where flavors are stored in covered metal containers). Order pistachio, or stracciatella, or something you’ve never tried before.

Rome moves slowly in the afternoon. People take long lunches, shops close for a few hours, and the city breathes. Match that rhythm. Sit, rest, watch.

DAY 13ROME TO ATHENS

Your driver takes you to the airport for your flight to Greece. When you land in Athens, your Greek driver will greet you and take you to your hotel. The Mediterranean has shifted again—the light is different here, sharper and clearer, the air touched with salt and thyme from the mountains. Your Greece family tour begins now.

Taste Souvlaki in Its Birthplace

Try Athens’ beloved souvlaki, a skewer of grilled meat (or a vegetarian option) wrapped in warm pita bread, finished with a generous spoonful of homemade tzatziki—rich, creamy, and crafted from authentic Greek yogurt.

Discover Peinirli, a Greek Specialty

Experience peinirli, a unique boat-shaped pastry similar to pizza, topped with melted cheese and either Greek sausage or vegetables. This lesser-known treat is sure to surprise and delight.

Enjoy Sweet Loukoumades

End with Baklava Desserts

End your tour on a high note with a selection of baklava-inspired desserts featuring crunchy filo layers, paired with creamy ice cream and a special Greek liqueur.

DAY 15FULL DAY DELPHI TOUR

The Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, located dramatically at the foot of Mount Parnassos, was renowned in ancient Greece as the home of its most famous oracle and considered the center of the world. According to mythology, Delphi marked the spot where two eagles sent by Zeus met, symbolizing the “navel of the world.” Delphi served as a cultural, religious, and unifying center for Greece, notably hosting the prestigious Pythian Games every four years.

Between the 6th and 4th centuries BC, the Delphic Oracle reached its zenith, with prophecies delivered by the priestess (Pythia) and interpreted by Apollo’s priests. Revered by cities, leaders, and individuals, the oracle’s reputation extended across the ancient world, celebrated for accurately predicting legendary events.

Visitors today can explore Delphi’s archaeological site and museum, which houses significant treasures including the famed bronze statue of the Charioteer, created in 478 BC by Polyzalos, a masterpiece of the “severe” Attic artistic style.

DAY 16DAY AT LEISURE IN ATHENS

Your final full day in Greece is yours to spend as you choose.

Walk through the **Plaka**, Athens’ oldest neighborhood, where narrow streets wind beneath the Acropolis. Small shops sell everything from tourist trinkets to handmade sandals, jewelry, and local honey. Tavernas spill out onto the sidewalks, their tables set with white cloths and simple food—Greek salad, grilled octopus, moussaka.

Visit the **Monastiraki Flea Market**, where vendors sell antiques, old books, vintage clothing, and curious objects that might be treasure or might be junk. Bargaining is expected and part of the experience.

The **Anafiotika** neighborhood, a small enclave of whitewashed houses built into the Acropolis slopes, feels transplanted from a Greek island. The families who built these homes in the 19th century came from the island of Anafi, bringing their architectural style with them.

Or find a café in a quiet square, order Greek coffee (thick, strong, served in a small cup with grounds that settle at the bottom), and watch Athens’ daily life unfold. Old men play backgammon, mothers push strollers, students argue over books.

This is the best family vacation rhythm—days of guided exploration balanced with days of simply being somewhere beautiful, together.

DAY 17DEPARTURE FROM ATHENS

Your driver collects you at the arranged time and takes you to the airport for your flight home. Your Mediterranean journey—four cities, four countries, sixteen nights, countless moments—ends here.

But what you’ve built together as a family—the meals shared, the sites discovered, the stories that will be retold for years—that continues.

Safe travels home. We hope to welcome you back to the Mediterranean again.
