Driving towards the Akrotiri peninsula, we will visit the monastery of Agia Triada Tzagarolon. Continuing our drive towards the picturesque province of Apokoronas, we will stop at the
archaeological site of Aptera, set on an impressive position with great vistas. We will explore the ruins of the ancient city, before our stop to the tiny Maheri, one of the most authentic and unspoilt Cretan villages where we will stroll and enjoy refreshments at a typical ‘kafenion’. The tour will then take us further inland and we will visit the workshop of a known local ceramist. The house, featured many times in Greek and international press, is an excellent example of traditional architecture, renovated in perfect harmony with the surrounding countryside. Continuing our scenic drive we will stop will be at the village of Samonas for a delicious Cretan meal at a family-run taverna – located on a privileged vista point overlooking the valley and the sea beyond. Late afternoon return at your hotel.
